At the "111th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union –IPU"-, held September 28th to October 1st, 2004, in Geneva, Switzerland, she was elected by direct and majority vote asPresident of the Latin American Geopolitical Group for a 2 years term. Representative of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala at the "112th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union" held April 3rd.-8th , 2005, inManila, Philippines.

As President of theLatin America Geopolitical Group she participated in the "Seminar for Latin American Parliaments on Parliament and the Budgetary Process, including from a Gender Perspective", held September 19th-21st, 2005 inSan Salvador, El Salvador.

Congresswoman Zury Ríos-Montt de Weller’s duties as Third Secretary of the Steering  Committe of the Congress of the Republic 2008-2009 include controlling the attendance of members of the Congress at plenary and working sessions and the consequent qualification of excuses, seeing to the prompt and effective transfer of bills to the appropriate committees, assisting the President (Speaker) in the coordination of interinstitucional relations with national and international NGOs, the operation of the nursery, and assistance to the President in matters of social communications.

As Third Secretary of the Steering Committee, she signed the agreement between congressmen and representatives of the organizations of civil society for the creation of the Reproductive Health Observatory, which activity was carried out as part of the International Day of Women.
